COMSTECH Coordinator General opened the Inter-Islamic Network of Nanotechnology located at Merc


The Inter-Islamic Network of Nanotechnology (INN) has been officially opened by H.E. Professor Atta-ur-Rahman, COMSTECH Coordinator General on 8th January 2012 with the presence of delegates of Iranian Ministry of Science, Research and Technology and some other governmental organizations.
“The Network should have at least five members “said Dr.Tofigh CEO of INN and MERC President at the opening ceremony. “INN is going to develop its membership and at the first step negotiations have been done with some 25 countries and many of them have announced their interest on the issue” he added.
The proposal to set up Inter Islamic Network of Nanotechnology (INN) has been approved by the 14th General Assembly Meeting of the Organization of Islamic Conference Standing Committee on Scientific and Technological Cooperation (COMSTECH) held on 11th to 13th January, 2011 at Islamabad, Pakistan and the Islamic Republic of Iran has been appointed as host Government for the INN.
According to this resolution Materials and Energy Research Center (MERC), has been appointed as the host institution.
Transferring the technology to other Islamic Countries, utilizing the facilities of the Network and strengthening cooperation between OIC countries are some of the main objectives of INN.
